The 5th Wood and Biofibre International Conference 2021 (WOBIC 2021) is an international conference to be held on 23-24 November 2021. Such conferences have been organized four times, with the first and second being held on 1-3 December 2009 and 3-5 December 2013, formerly known as the International Conference on Kenaf and Allied Fibers (ICKAF). In line with time, ICKAF was later rebranded as Wood and Biofibre International Conference (WOBIC), which was held on 21-23 November 2017 and 3-5 December 2019. INTROP is a Center of Excellence for Higher Education in the fiber and tropical wood niche area. It has found that the conference is essential to continue in sustaining niche research of INTROP and UPM. The 4th conference, which was held on 3-5 December 2019 in Sabah, was a great success, attended by more than 150 participants from various educational institutions, research institutions, government and non-government agencies, and attended by participants from international universities. A total of 24 international participants participated in the 4th conference. In addition, 2 keynote speakers, 5 Plenary sessions, and 12 special guest panels were invited to make the conference a success. In line with the research objectives of the niche area, this conference aims to provide a platform for disseminating and sharing research results in the field of natural fibers and timber technology that have high added value and are safe for humans and the environment. It is a relevant forum for academics, researchers, policy providers and private companies from Malaysia and various countries at the international level to discuss related issues and enhance scientific cooperation.
